Monday Meditations: What Church In The Wild?

Everybody likes an ambitious, grand musical number about religion and civilization. Both of these songs have inspired my brainstorming about stories.

SONG OF THE WEEK

“Dichotomy” by Becoming the Archetype

Grand, bombastic, and brutal- like a good metal song. Jason Wisdom roars like a lion. “In this hour / The tower / Shall fall!”

“No Church In The Wild” by Jay-Z and Kanye West featuring Frank Ocean

First off, this is a tense, brooding beat, and sets the perfect mood for a writer wrting about a moody character. Second off, the chorus is hypnotic and leaves a message behind. “What’s God to a non-believer / Who don’t believe in / Anything?”

WARNING: Kanye’s raps are well-done but they don’t have anything to do with the rest of the song and they objectify women horribly. I skipped his part of the song and I recommend you do the same.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“What’s a mob to a king?
What’s a king to a god?
What’s a god to a non-believer?
Who don’t believe in anything?”
